Halloween Tomato Soup with Witches Fingers Recipe

Halloween Tomato Soup with Witches Fingers - Glutafin gluten free recipes

For children I do not think you can beat the classic leading brand cream of tomato soup (mentioning no names of course) so this recipe concentrates on decorating it spider web fashion and making the witches fingers.

You will need:

Preparation time:
30 minutes

Cooking time:
15 minutes

Oven temperature: 200 C / Gas mark 6
Makes:
4

Ingredients

Soup

  • 2 Large cans of cream of tomato soup*
  • 150ml/¼pt carton single cream

Fingers

  • 250g/ 9oz Glutafin Select Fibre Bread Mix
  • 1 x 5ml tsp Dried yeast
  • 1 x 5ml tsp Mild paprika
  • 175ml/6 fl oz Hand hot water
  • 1 x 15ml tbsp Mild olive oil
  • 50g/2oz Mature Cheddar (grated)
  • 25g/1oz Pumpkin seeds for warts
  • 25g/1oz Pecan halves for nails

Method

* Proving time: 40 minutes

1.Prepare fingers. Combine Fibre Mix and yeast in a medium size bowl. Stir in paprika, olive oil and half the cheese.
2.Add the warm water and using a fork stir until combined to a stiff batter.
3.Spoon mix into a squeezy tomato ketchup bottle with plastic lid or into a piping bag fitted with a plain nozzle.
4.Pipe mix out into finger lengths and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Push in pumpkin seed warts randomly and position a pecan nail onto each finger. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
5.Cover with oiled cling film and leave to prove for about 40 minutes until slightly risen.
6.Remove film and cook until golden.
7.To serve, warm soup and pour into bowls. Pierce foil lid to make a small hole in cream carton. Pour cream into concentric rings on top of the soup. Drag a knife from the centre of the ring out to the bowl edge at regular intervals to feather the rings to look like a spider web. Serve soup accompanied by the witches fingers.
