PCT Policy Changes

PCT restrictions

1st February 2011
The recent PCT budget cutting policies are affecting prescriptions of gluten free food across the country, and even though some PCTs are complying with the new Coeliac UK policy regarding cake mixes and sweet biscuits, some are also restricting other products.

Glutafin shares concerns about the impact of too restrictive policies on patients and their ability to comply with a nutritionally adequate gluten free diet. In order to both verify and question some of the most restrictive policies, we are working closely with our Industry Group, the BSNA (British Specialist Nutrition Association) and with Coeliac UK.

Coeliac UK are opposing all PCT's where such restrictions have been put in place. Visit
Coeliac UK's official page on the topic to find out more about the affected areas and Coeliac UK's activities.
